Honoring Veterans at BGSF: A Commitment to Service and Career Transition Support

On Veterans Day, we honor the bravery, dedication, and sacrifices of all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. At BGSF, we’re privileged to work alongside veterans who have transitioned their skills and dedication to the civilian workforce. This Veterans Day, we recognize the contributions of several of our colleagues who have served and continue to inspire us with their resilience and leadership.

In transitioning to civilian careers, veterans often bring a wealth of experience and values that align closely with our core principles at BGSF—Growth, Integrity, Innovation, Fun, Teamwork, and Service. For many, staffing agencies can play a pivotal role in this journey, providing veterans with access to a broad range of job opportunities and personalized career guidance. Here, we share the personal stories of some of our BGSF veterans and how they have successfully transitioned their skills to new roles.

Jorge DeMelo: Building a Bridge from Military to Civilian Life

Senior Managing Director of Client Services, BGSF Jorge, a U.S. Air Force veteran, shares that transitioning from military to civilian life can be challenging, with approximately 200,000 service members making this shift each year. Jorge emphasizes the benefits of working with a staffing agency like BGSF: access to a wider range of job opportunities, valuable career advice, and a network of professionals who understand clients' needs and "nice-to-have" skill sets not listed on public job descriptions. BGSF helps veterans find roles that suit their expertise and connect with companies that appreciate their unique skill sets.

In this quick video, Jorge shares a few lessons from his military career that has impacted both his personal and professional life.

Darrell Young: Bringing Military Values to Talent Acquisition

Senior Technical Recruiter, BGSF

As a retired U.S. Army Commissioned Officer, Darrell brings a wealth of experience to his role as a Technical Delivery Specialist. Through BGSF, he’s had the opportunity to hone his recruitment skills and help others find career opportunities. Darrell is proud to work for a company that celebrates diversity and provides growth and development opportunities. “Every day I strive to uphold our core values and look forward to helping other veterans discover new and exciting careers with our clients,” he shares.

Dennis Waggoner: Honoring Family and Supporting Veterans’ Transition

Vice President, Strategic Accounts, BGSF

Dennis Waggoner proudly represents BGSF on a Nashville Chamber group focused on helping soldiers at Fort Campbell transition to civilian life. Honoring his uncle Dutch, a Vietnam veteran who never missed a Franklin Veterans Day Parade, Dennis is committed to supporting veterans. Recently, he spent a day at Fort Campbell, meeting leaders and exploring programs like “Hiring Our Heroes,” which helps veterans build civilian careers. Dennis’s efforts embody his dedication to veterans and their contributions. “Our Veterans are special,” Dennis shares. “I will always value and appreciate their sacrifices.”
